Hi Karen! They do tend to bunch up when I raise and lower them. That said, I typically leave them at this same height so over time they have creased into position. So, I can lower them and then raise them to this height without having to adjust. It works for the look that I like!!

I see you did not use any “ribs” across your shades. Do they still raise and lower cleanly or do adjust them to look neat and just leave them at that height?

Julie – sorry I am so late replying to your post! We used little L brackets to attaching the mounting board to the window casing. I chose ones that are 1″ long. Just screw them into your mounting board and then screw them into the sides of the widow frame. Pretty simple!

I purchased that fabric at a local textile store here in Nashville called The Fabric House. The selvage reads Portfolio Textiles, Inc. – Portguard. Hope you can track it down! Good luck with the shades! Send me a pic when you finish. I am sure they will be fab!

I absolutely love the fabric you chose for the roman shades. I have been looking and unable to find that particular fabric. Do you know where I might be able to find it. I am looking forward to using your instructions for making my own:-)
